Project Type: Public Space, Educational
Project Details: Mainland
Project Accolades: January 2023 Destination Guide Editors Pick ✨
In the News: Second Life Featured Destination February 2023
Project Description:
This version of What the Buzz saw my bee and pollinator reserve move to its forever (hopefully!) home on the mainland continent of Satori, located on the outskirts of the Moocroft community. It was lovingly crafted to offer a more realistic interactive user experience. Using the same format as previous versions, visitors could wander through the reserve, stopping at the yellow info signs to learn about different things they could do in their day to day lives to help save the bees.
This version of What the Buzz also featured a gift shop and farmers market where visitors could browse through handmade goods, some from other creators, and take a little piece of What the Buzz home with them.
When done browsing the gift shop, visitors could wander over to the Field Research Station and visit the research area which was setup to reenact a team of Apiologists working hard to better understand honey bee decline. You could also learn more about bees (honey bees and native bees) and some of the reasons causing their numbers to dwindle. Visitors could also help tend to the beehives at the Happy Hive Apiary- hives utilized the DFS (Digital Farm System) and produced honeycombs which could then be crafted into items at the What the Buzz DFS cook and prep station area.
This version of What the Buzz was a January 2023 Destination Guide Editor Pick and was also a Second Life Featured Destination for February of 2023.
