Project Details: Private estate land
Project Description:
Home is not a place, it’s a feeling. For me home is comfort, safety, security, solace… a refuge in both my first life and my Second Life. It’s about creating a space that is uniquely you. In my case, my SL home, just like my real life home, needs to be filled with nature and have lots of trees that I can hug (yes I actually hug trees – in solidarity of forest preservation and because it just makes me happy) and sounds and sites that I can get lost in. It needs to be an immersive environment for me to log into and feel at peace with. This is what home means to me in the midst of the chaos of this virtual world and so this is what I created with this project.
I decided to slightly elevate my house, which is from Hisa, and surround it with lots and lots of green and Autumn colors. The path in front of it leads around to the side and to the back of the house where I had a chicken coop and chickens. Directly in front of the house there was a small coastline area with a deck and seating and a lighthouse off in the distance. The gentle sound of the lapping water and seagulls oftentimes lulled and calmed me when I needed it. Around the other side of the house, shown in the photo below, I added some abandoned train tracks and of course the deer – which I envisioned as walking out of the nearby forest and being sort of caretakers of my home and the land around it.
