Project Name: What the Buzz @ Emyniad Hollow
Project Type: Public Space, Educational
Project Details: Mainland
Project Description:
After the closing of Willow Creek National Park, What the Buzz was looking for a new home and landed on the Corsica South Coast. I feel like this version was a transition build for What the Buzz. The area was land-locked and rather than conceptualizing and then building What the Buzz from that, I was trying to build it to fit into the landscape that was already there.
Visitors entered What the Buzz via the main entrance which was off of a road. In the welcome area was the park office (a new addition with this build) that housed different kinds of information about The Nature Collective and What the Buzz. Also in this area was the DFS (Digital Farm System) community garden and a small area to hang out by a small greenhouse.
This version, like previous versions, was set up so each area corresponded with something that we can do to help save the bees. Each area had a yellow information sign that would give a NC with additional information.
From the welcome area, visitors then went up a short flight of stairs and then to the left and through a big tree tunnel. Visitors were greeted with a large pollinator garden on their right after exiting the tree tunnel and the beekeeping area straight ahead from there.
There was a short flight of steps down and into a field of flowers where there was a makeshift stage in the back of a pickup truck and seats all around for live music. Another short flight of stairs down from this section and people were on a wrap-around dock that overlooked a small pond. There was a coffee cart here (courtesy of my good friend Cynthia Deere) with a couple of tables and lots of water sounds and wildlife.
