Visit: What the Buzz in Second Life
Project Description:
With the 1st and 2nd phases of The Nature Collective complete, What the Buzz was re-located to an adjoining region and refreshed for Spring 2024. With a newly revamped Learning Center, there is more room for people to attend our Beekeeping 101 and All About Native Bees presentations. Visitors can wander the bee and pollinator preserve and learn the difference between honey bees and native bees and what they can do in their day-to-day lives to help save them.
In May of 2024, we unveiled our new Pollinator Pledge Program which invites people to commit to creating pollinator-friendly spaces in Second Life, such as pollinator gardens, to engage and educate visitors about the importance of pollinators and the threats they face. Participants of the Pollinator Pledge Program also pledge to take concrete steps in real life to protect pollinators by providing healthy habitats through creation and protection efforts.
In June of 2024, the Association of College of Resource Libraries (ACRL) Virtual Worlds Interest group conducted a virtual tour of “What the Buzz” and attended a presentation on native bees.
What the Buzz was a Marc 2024 Destination Guide Editors Pick.
