Project Description:
This next version marked the first time What the Buzz was housed on Mainland (with land donated by Bryce Sun), nestled into the heart of Willow Creek National Park, which was a new build co-created with my partner Garrett Vintner. It was still an interactive project but on a much bigger scale.
Visitors could access What the Buzz by finding their way in with 2 different locations from Willow Creek National Park or teleport directly into the landing area. From there they could wander the path and stop at the yellow info signs along the way to learn about the different ways that they could help save and protect our precious pollinator population.
This new version had the same components (pollinator garden, beehives, farmers market) as previous versions, again showcasing different ways that people could help save the bees, but it expanded on the different areas. Across from the beehive area there was an apple orchard to help show the importance of pollinators on our food supply chain. The farmers market area now included a DFS (Digital Farm Systems) community garden where people could help tend to the garden and see the impact pollinators have, while learning about safe and all-natural ways to fertilize. There was also a lake, Firefly Lake where people could take a break and relax by the water, listening to the soundscape that surrounded them.
This version of What the Buzz marked its first time as an Editors Pick in the Second Life Destination Guide in May of 2022.
